The aim is to carry out academic research on the topics of tourism, hospitality management and destination management.
The IULM University has started a collaboration with HBenchmark, the online hospitality data intelligence platform that aggregates data from the management systems (PMS) of individual hotels and returns in real-time, in an anonymous and aggregate form, information on future trends that are crucial to define the commercial and marketing strategies of the individual structures and destinations to which they belong.
"This is a unique web-based collaborative tool, which allows the acquisition, aggregation and comparative analysis of a large series of performance indicators for the hospitality industry. The availability of timely and reliable data for decisions has always been a critical issue for the tourism sector. Today the ongoing transformation makes this need even more urgent. The collaboration with HBenchmark will help us to strengthen our research and training activities on the relationship between strategies and performance in tourism, at the service of companies and institutions in the sector” underlines Professor Manuela Decarlo.
The future goal is precisely to use the unique data analysis methodologies in the sector and offered by HBenchmark so that IULM - and in particular the students enrolled in the Master's Degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management and the Master MITH (International Tourism and Hospitality) - can implement them to carry out academic research activities on the themes of tourism, hospitality management and destination management consistent with the respective purposes of the actors involved."
The collaboration with IULM - comments Francesco Traverso, CEO of HBenchmark - thanks to which analysis models with scientific value will be born, comes at a historical moment in which the planning and strategies of the tourism sector cannot ignore the verification of the results for which the availability of timely, real and immediate data is of fundamental importance ”.
